TOUR HOSTS -- Tom and Cindy Smith.
Cindy is a year 2000 alumna.

Registration required with Cindy Smith by July 10th
or call her (360) 668-5508

Join other alumni on a tour where the present meets the past. Journey back in time to when the Pacific Northwest was just beginning to be developed and "meet" the pioneers who made our part of the country what it is today. Meet Mother Rucker and her boys, the Munson's, the Sills and find out why every history book about Snohomish County mentions Gardner Goodridge.

VENUE -- The tour begins from the Smokey Point Rest Area. It is located at the northbound I5 milepost marker 207 between the Smokey Point exit and the Arlington exit. Please arrive by 9:15 AM. A 9:30 driver's meeting will give driving directions. The tour departs promptly at 9:45. The actual tour begins in Arlington and ends in Snohomish.

CEMETERIES ON THE TOUR -- We will stop at eight cemeteries: Harwood Cemetery, Arlington; Bryant/Loyal Heights, Bryant; Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Silvana; Florence Cemetery, Florence; Mission Beach Cemetery, Tulalip Reservation; Everett City Cemetery, Everett; Evergreen Cemetery, Everett; and Pilchuck Cemetery, Snohomish. We will drive-by two more - Happy Valley Cemetery, Silvana and Priest Point, Tulalip -because there is no parking.

WARNING: This will be a long tour. Please plan for the whole day, but also feel free to join if you can only take in part of the tour. When Cindy gave the tour last October, it took five hours. That group had CB radios, and they did not get out of their cars at every cemetery. Walking visits of certain cemeteries are included in our tour.

PARTIAL TOUR -- If you want to take in half the tour, we recommend joining the tour either at the start or at Kayak Point County Park while we are having lunch. Approximate lunchtime will be between 11:00 and 1:00. The logistics of locating the in-progress tour may prove challenging since a fixed timeline is not feasible.

REGISTER FOR THE TOUR - To register for the complete or the partial tour you may either email Cindy Smith at tomaci@verizon.net or call her at (360) 668-5508. Early registration is requested to help her planning, although registrations are welcomed up to 10 July.

BONUS FOR REGISTERED TOUR PARTICIPANTS -- Cindy has prepared a 42-page guide for this tour. The guide is complete with pictures and information about the histories of the cemeteries and their occupants. Cindy will only print and have available copies for those that register by 10 July. Early registration is requested to give her time to make copies of the guide.

LUNCH -- After the Florence cemetery visit we break for a group picnic at Kayak Point County Park. Participants need to bring a picnic lunch and the $5.00 per car fee for using Kayak Point Country Park. There are no formal arrangements made for a dinner after the tour, however, the town of Snohomish offers many fine eating establishments should you choose to dine out before heading home.

CARPOOLS -- If you plan to carpool with friends, we recommend making arrangements in advance and arriving together in your carpool. It is probably not a good idea to leave a car parked at the rest area for the whole day, and the tour ends in Snohomish.

NOTE: Several members of the Smith's Miata Club will be joining our tour. They missed her earlier tour. As "old timers" in the area of progressive car tours, they will be welcomed in helping to keep the group together and from getting lost.

QUESTIONS - Please contact Cindy Smith about the tour specifics details.
