Walt Crowley is the founder and director of www.HistoryLink.org, the award winning online encyclopedia of Seattle and King County history. He has written more than a dozen books on Seattle, including the new Seattle & King County Timeline (HistoryLink, 2001), the National Trust Guide: Seattle (Preservation Press/Wiley, 1998), Rites of Passage, A Memoir of the Sixties in Seattle (UW Press, 1995) and histories of Group Health, Seattle University, Metro Transit, the Rainier Club, and the Blue Moon Tavern.

Since 1967, he has served variously as a writer and illustrator for the Seattle "underground" newspaper Helix, a city policy planner and administrator under Mayor Wes Uhlman, a staff writer for the Seattle Weekly, president of Allied Arts, member of the Washington State and Seattle historic preservation boards, TV news commentator and newspaper columnist, and as a communications consultant to numerous public institutions and private clients. In short, he knows "where the bodies are buried."
